Women’s Swimming Topples Keydets, 191-63

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's swimming team earned a commanding 191-63 win over Virginia Military Institute (VMI) on Saturday afternoon. 

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Blue and White won 12 of the 14 events on their way to a commanding 160-58 win over the Keydets. Both relay teams claimed gold while eight different swimmers contributed to the teams ten individual wins. 
  • Bella Tarbet and Brynn Martinson each had a hand in four wins for the Generals on Saturday, both were a part of the winning relay teams. Tarbet notched wins in the 50 free (24.92s) and the 100 butterfly (58.91s) while Martinson finished in first in the 100 (53.59s) and 200 (1:58.22) free. 
  • The 200 free relay team, made up of Martinson, Myla Rice, Tarbet and Sophia Rollo, set a new pool record with a time of 1:38.12. 
  • Katie Crawford, Haley Robinson, Isabella Malchow, Paige McBoyle, Ruth Crane and Molly Pennisi each recorded one win in their respective events.

  • Martinson, Rice, Tarbet, Rollo - 200 Freestyle Relay (1:38.12)*

  • Brynn Martinson - 200 Freestyle (1:58.22); 100 Freestyle (53.59s)
  • Haley Robinson - 200 Butterfly (2:17.68)
  • Bella Tarbet - 50 Freestyle (24.92s); 100 Butterfly (58.91s)
  • Isabella Malchow - 200 Backstroke (2:14.13)
  • Paige McBoyle - 200 Breaststroke (2:30.85) 
  • Ruth Crane - 500 Freestyle (5:25.17) 
  • Molly Pennisi - 200 IM (2:18.74)

  • The Blue and White will take a week off before heading to Greensboro, N.C. for the 2024 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships on Feb. 7-10.
