Men's Track and Field All-State Teams Announced

Three Generals Named First Team and One Second Teamer

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Virginia Sports Information Director Association (VaSID) announced the All-State College Division Men's Outdoor Track and Field Team on Thursday and four Generals were voted to the two teams. 

Charles Scharf (Elizabeth Town, Pa. / Elizabethtown Area), Evan Langhammer (Roanoke, Va. / Patrick Henry) and Adam Roy (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford) received first team laurels and Daniel Jakubowski-Lewis (Roselle, N.J. / Union County Voc-Technical School) was voted to the second team. 

Scharf, the ODAC's event champion and school record holder in the 10,000 meter run was selected as a distance runner to the first team. Scharf also took second in the 5,000m at the conference championship meet and was an all-region honoree in both events with times of 14:32.81 and a 10k performance of 30:09.75.

Roy, a team co-captain earned a selection for throws events. Roy owns the team's season-best performances in both the javelin and shot put. Roy is the javelin conference champion and was named all-region for a toss of 58.16 meters - Roy also placed third in the shot put at the ODAC Championships. 

First-year pole vaulter, Langhammer was named all-state for vertical jump events after earning All-America status at the NCAA DIII Championships. Langhammer's top height in the event of 4.88 meters earned him USTFCCCA All-Region honors and he was the top-finisher among first-years at the NCAA Championships. 

Jakubowski-Lewis was named second team after he posted a personal-best 55.10-second time during the 400 meter hurdle event and recorded a 15.35-second mark at the Battleground Relays in the 110 meter hurdles race. The first-year earned all-region in both events and was the ODAC's event champion in the 400m hurdles at the outdoor championships.

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
