HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team sits in fifth place following the first day of the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
- The Generals are sitting in fifth place after the first day of the outdoor championships, scoring 18 points in the six events scored on Friday.
- Mark Freeman highlighted the afternoon as he posted the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 100m dash, clocking in a personal best time of 10.90s to qualify for tomorrow's finals. His time moved him past Brian Krupczak (11.03s) in the program's top-five list.
- David Akinnubi turned in a sixth place finish in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.92m (6'-03.50") to secure three teams points for the Blue and White. Maddox Noll was the top finisher for W&L in the shot put, recording a personal best mark of 14.04m (46'-00.75"). Ezekiel Mullins turned in an eighth place finish in the event as well, registering a toss of 12.93m (42'-05.25").
- Teddy Meredith posted a personal best in the 3,000m steeplechase, clocking in a time of 10:20.52 to finish in seventh place. Colin Verrett and Robert Cooper both turned in top-eight finishes in the 10,000m to round out the night. Verrett finished in fourth palce with a time of 32:58.43 while Cooper finished in seventh place, crossing the finish line in a time of 33:10.26.
- Macky Gartley qualified for the finals in both the 110m and 400m hurdles this afternoon. Gartley posted the second-fastest time in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.78s to qualify for tomorrow's finals while clocking in a time of 54.53s, the second-best time, in the 400m hurdles. John Daniels and Danny Jakubowski-Lewis will also compete alongside Gartley in the 400m hurdles. Daniels posted the fifth-fastest time in the event with a time of 55.19s while Jakubowski-Lewis clocked in a time of 55.78s to make the finals.
