LEXINGTON, Va. – The 10th-ranked Washington and Lee men's lacrosse team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 23-6 win over Bridgewater on Saturday afternoon.
The Generals (7-4, 2-2 ODAC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead within the first five minutes of the game, with two of the goals coming from senior
Hudson Pokorny (Darien, Conn. / Darien). Jacob Mead put the Eagles (4-4, 1-1 ODAC) on the board with a man-up goal at the 8:27 mark of the first, but first-year
Colin Beatty (Summit, N.J. / Summit) answered just eight seconds later to kickstart a 6-0 run, which put W&L in front, 10-1, with 8:02 left in the second quarter.
Beatty (6:50) and Pokorny (1:34) logged the Generals' final two goals of the first half, but Bridgewater scored twice within the final 40 seconds for a 12-4 halftime score.
Pokorny opened the second-half scoring exactly 60 seconds into the third with his fifth goal of the game, which spurred a 9-0 run from the Blue and White to put the game out of reach. Junior
Michael Ott (West Newbury, Mass. / St. John's Prep) led the run with three goals, while first-year
James Haley (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) tallied the team's eighth and ninth goals of the run.
The two sides finished the scoring by alternating two goals each over the final five minutes of play.
Pokorny ended the game with his five goals on top of three assists for a game- and career-high eight points. Ott set new career highs in points (7) and assists (4), while tying his career high of three goals, while adding three ground balls and two caused turnovers. After Pokorny and Ott, the Generals received balanced scoring, as six other players recorded two points each, including four with two goals.

Will Bou (Chevy Chase, Md. / Landon) won 8-of-14 face-offs and senior
Matt Gallagher (Lynchburg, Va. / E.C. Glass) claimed 5-of-9 to highlights the Generals' efforts at the X. Gallagher tied for the team high with four ground balls.

Nick Tussing (Owings Mills, Md. / Gilman) and first-year
Chris Datz (West Chester, Pa. / Malvern Preparatory School) both picked up three, with Datz adding a caused turnover. The W&L defense smothered the Bridgewater offense; the Eagles turned the ball over 35 times, 20 of which were caused by the Generals. Six different W&L players caused a team-high two turnovers.

Warren Seeds (Atlanta, Ga. / Westminster) (2-1) tallied the start and the win, as he made four saves in the first three quarters. First-year
Ryan Boyd (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) started the fourth and played 11:13, before junior
Ryan Aljader (Levittown, N.Y. / Chaminade) covered the final 3:47. Both Boyd and Aljader made one save apiece.
Connor McLean tallied a Bridgewater-high four points on two goals and two assists, and Chris Martel scored twice as well to highlight the offense. Gabriel Alexander won 13-of-24 face-offs and finished the day with a game-high nine ground balls. Jacob Mead led the defense with five ground balls and three caused turnovers, as he was the only Eagle with multiple caused turnovers.
In goal, Ian Cook (4-4) made five saves across the first 35:20, before Tyler Carney played the rest of the way and stopped six shots.
W&L took 66 shots in the game and put 34 on cage, to Bridgewater's 26 attempts and 13 on goal. Ground balls also favored the Blue and White by a final count of 49-43.
The Generals will return to the field on Wednesday when they host Randolph-Macon at 7:00 pm on Wilson Field.
