W&L Men's Lacrosse promotes Bobby Griffith

Bobby Griffith elevated to full-time assistant on W&L Men's Lacrosse staff

6/18/2026 11:42:00 AM

LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Gene McCabe announced the promotion of Bobby Griffith from volunteer assistant coach to full-time assistant coach.

Griffith was hired as a part-time volunteer assistant coach prior to the 2026 season, and he helped the Generals to another successful year. W&L posted a 16-6 overall record and won its second consecutive ODAC Tournament title, before advancing to the third round of the NCAA Tournament for a fourth straight season.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Griffith back to our staff in this full-time role," McCabe stated. "Bobby is an exceptionally talented coach with a contagious passion for the game. His first year with us as a volunteer during the 2026 season was invaluable. His work with all positions, but especially our offensive players, goalies, and face-off athletes, was integral in our growth through the season, which ultimately led to an ODAC Tournament championship and a Round of 16 finish in the NCAA tournament."

Prior to arriving in Lexington, Griffith served as a graduate assistant coach at Messiah University for the 2025 season, focusing his efforts with offensive players and on extra-man opportunity groups. Following the Falcons' 2025 campaign, Griffith was the offensive coordinator for Team 91 Maryland 2028s, where he provided coaching support for faceoff specialists and goalies.

Griffith earned his Bachelor of Science in political science from West Chester University in 2024. His collegiate lacrosse playing experience came during the COVID-shortened 2020 season when he scored three goals in five games as a freshman midfielder at Cabrini University.
