Men's Track and Field Posts Three Wins at Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team competed at Bridgewater College at the Doc Jopson Invitational on Saturday. The one day event featured 18 top-8 finishers and four wins.

Daniel Jakubowski-Lewis (Roselle, N.J. / Union County Voc-Technical School) won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.44 seconds, Adam Roy's (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford) javelin throw of 56.36 meters was good for first and Evan Langhammer (Roanoke, Va. / Patrick Henry) picked up another win at the pole vault with a height of 4.58 meters.

Roy placed in the top-8 in all three of his events; he placed eighth in discus with a toss 36.65 meters and fifth in shot put with a throw of 13.19 meters in addition to his javelin win.

The Generals took first, second and third in the javelin. Behind Roy was Connor Lehman (Weston, Mass. / Weston) and Brandon Makowski (Bordentown, N.J. / Florence Township Memorial) with throws 50.14 meters and 48.57 meters, respectively.

Jakubowski-Lewis also placed second in the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 15.79 seconds.

To round out the first-place finishes, George Marable (Aransas Pass, Texas / Rockport-Fulton), Doug Dracon (Matthews, N.C. / Weddington), Zach Moore (Advance, N.C. / Forsyth Country Day) and James Edwards (Auburn, Calif. / Lincoln) combined to run a 3:23.57 4x400 meter relay time. The Generals took first and third in the event with the grouping of Jakubowski-Lewis, Luke Avigliano (Madison, N.J. / Seton Hall Prep), Duncan Meldrum (Durbam, South Africa / St. Andrew's) and Ryan McKenna (Ridgewood, N.J. / Ridgewood) coming in 3:24.40 to finish third overall.

The men's squad will return to action next weekend at the University of Willam & Mary's Colonial Relays and the Battleground Relays hosted by the University of Mary Washington on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
