LEXINGTON, Va. - Four players tallied double digit performances as the Washington and Lee University men's basketball team earned a 97-86 victory over the No. 16 Hampden-Sydney Tigers which snapped the visitors 11-game win streak on senior night.
The Generals (19-7, 12-5 ODAC) never gave up the advantage leading the Tigers (20-5, 14-2) by as many as 20 points in the narrowing minutes of the second half. The Blue and White took off on a 7-2 lead early in the first half, pushing the score to 18-9 in favor of the hosts. The opening stanza ended on a jumper by Drew Harrell (Collingswood, N.J./Paul VI) with 0:16 seconds to play, giving W&L the 52-40 lead heading into the break.
H-SC came out of the break trailing by 12, and struggled to climb back into contention. Down 87-67 with 6:28 to play in the contest the Tigers clawed their way back with less than two minutes to play bringing the score to 83-90 on a Davidson Hubbard triple.
The Generals shot a stellar 53.6 percent from the field, including 58.3 percent from behind the arc, while also going 22-24 from the free-throw line.
Robert DiSibio (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) led all scorers with 25 points going a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point land. The junior also sat in second on the night with four assists.
Senior, Richie Manigault (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg)Â tallied a team second 23 points, going 5-for-7 from behind the arc. He also brought down five boards in the effort. Classmates Cheick Toure (Silver Spring, Md. / Sandy Spring Friends), Jack Lewis (Rockville, Md. / Sidewell Friends) and Sam Wise (Winchester, Va. / Handley) combined for 27 points. The four seniors scored the initial 12 points for W&L.
Harrell and Wise each dished out 6 assists.
Jack d'Entremont (Bryn Mawr, Pa. / Radnor) blocked two shots for the home team.Â
It was the Tigers who dominated the paint, and out-rebounded the Generals 39-32, but Washington and Lee won the turnover game, breaking up 12 Tiger possessions.

Davidson Hubbard led the charge for Hampden Sydney with 21 points, and 16 rebounds. Three other Tigers notched double digits in the contest.
W&L returns to the court on Friday against the Roanoke Maroons in the quarterfinal round of the ODAC Tournament.
