ASHLAND, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's basketball team continued its undefeated play against conference opponents with a 75-50 win at Randolph-Macon on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets (10-5, 7-2 ODAC) jumped out to a 9-4 lead through the first five minutes of the game, but the Generals (12-4, 9-0 ODAC) then used an overall 28-4 run, spanning into the second quarter, to grab a 32-13 lead. At one point during the run, W&L scored 15 straight points. first-year
Mary Schleusner (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Latin School) was the driving force behind the 28-4 run, with 14 points of her own.
W&L came out of the halftime break with a 40-21 lead, which grew to 20 points with 2:24 remaining in the quarter. The Generals then went on another lengthy scoring run, tallying 13 straight points which left them ahead, 63-30, with 9:21 left in the game. That 33-point margin was tied for W&L's largest in the game.
R-MC outscored the Generals, 16-8, over the final 7:35 of the game, and put up its highest-scoring quarter of the day in the fourth (20), but the prior damage was too much to overcome.
Following her program-record 23 rebounds in the team's last game, Schleusner grabbed another 16 against the Yellow Jackets, while adding 19 points and seven blocks. Schleusner shot 7-of-15 from the floor, including 3-for-3 from long range, and she joined Jessica Hunsinger '07 as the only players in program history with multiple seven-block games in a career.
Additionally, W&L finished with 10 blocks as a team, giving them 124 for the season. That mark is already the second highest in a single-season in program history, trailing only the 2006-07 team (142). Coming into the day, W&L led all of Division III in both total blocks (114) and blocks per game (7.6).

Sofia Feigelson (Millbrook, N.Y. / Millbrook School) scored 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting to go along with five rebounds and three assists. Senior
Kathryn Vandiver (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Latin School) notched 13 points and seven rebounds, while junior
Grace O'Connor (Hillsborough, N.J. / Hillsborough) produced 13 points, seven boards and a career-high nine dimes.
Randolph-Macon was led offensively by Catherine Kagey, who put together a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double. Paige Anderson and Juliana Park both scored nine points, with Anderson adding seven rebounds.
W&L finished the game shooting 43.5 percent (27-62), which was helped by a mark of 57.7 percent (15-26) in the first half. The Yellow Jackets finished the day at just 24.3 percent (17-70) shooting, which was as low as 19.6 percent (10-51) through three quarters. It was the third time this season that the Generals have held their opponent to 25 percent shooting or lower in a game.
The Generals will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Winchester for a 5:00 pm start against Shenandoah.
