Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The No. 18 and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team began its run in the 2022 ODAC Tournament with a 5-0 win over Roanoke in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
The Generals improve to 13-6 overall with the win, while the Maroons fall to 7-12 overall with the loss.
W&L claimed the top-two doubles positions by 8-0 scores, as senior
Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La. / Mount Carmel Academy) and sophomore
Margaret Carlton (Matthews, N.C. / Charlotte Christian) won at No. 1 and sophomore
Gabi Moss (Paradise Valley, Ariz. / Chaparral) and junior
Becket Waters (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) claimed the win at No. 2. The Generals earned a win-by-forfeit at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, W&L earned its fourth point in the match after a forfeit at No. 6. Carlton then defeated Simone Jol, 6-0, 6-0, to clinch the match.
The Generals will now take on the winner of Shenandoah vs. Randolph-Macon in the ODAC semifinals in Lexington on Saturday at 1:30 pm.
