LEXINGTON, Va. -- The top-seeded Washington and Lee men's tennis team posted a 5-0 victory over eighth-seeded Shenandoah in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Men's Tennis Tournament held at the W&L Upper Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
The Generals easily swept the doubles points, with the team of senior
T.J. Rudden (Mountain Lakes, N.J. / Mountain Lakes) and first-year
James Kurani (Charlotte, N.C. / Providence Day) notching an 8-0 victory at the No. 3 position. The pairing of first-year
Evan Erb (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) and junior
Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade) added an 8-1 win at the No. 2 position, while first-years
Eli Hirshberg (Alpharetta, Ga. / Johns Creek) and
Will Kistler (Hilton Head, S.C. / Laurel Springs School) notched an 8-5 win at the top doubles slot.
Sophomore
Jonathan Molner (Atlanta, Ga. / Lovett) took the first singles match by a score of 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles, and Kistler won his match at No. 1 singles after his opponent retired.
Washington and Lee is now 12-8 overall and will face the winner of a match between fourth-seeded Bridgewater and fifth-seeded Guilford in the semifinals on Saturday at 8:30 am. Shenandoah finishes its season at 4-11 overall.
