BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's tennis team posted its third 7-0 win in as many fall matches on Tuesday, as the Generals closed out their fall season on a high note.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Coming off their strong ITA regional tournament as a doubles team, senior Heys Parker and first-year Dutch Prather moved up to No. 1 doubles and posted a 6-2 win. Sophomore Henry Imorde and first-year Lach McCaghren won 6-0 at No. 2 and sophomores Pearce Lane and Justin Ilie rounded out the doubles sweep, 6-1, at No. 3.
- Imorde (1) and Lane (6) had the biggest singles wins on the day, as neither player dropped a single game. Prather (2) and McCaghren (4) also posted matching scores of 6-2, 6-1.
- Ilie was a 6-3, 6-2 victor at No. 5, while Parker rounded out the 7-0 team score with a 6-1, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (7).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Generals posted a combined singles record of 22-4 during the fall season and a mark of 11-2 in doubles. None of the individual losses came in any of the three ODAC dual matches.
- Imorde (1) and Lane (6) will both head into spring season with 3-0 singles records at their respective positions.
UP NEXT:
This concludes the fall portion of the Generals' season, as the team will pick things back up on February 7 with a home dual match against N.C. Wesleyan.
