Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 18th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team swept Guilford, 9-0, on Thursday, while not surrendering a single game.
The Generals improve to 11-6 overall and 8-0 in the ODAC with the win, and the Quakers fall to 3-9 overall and 3-6 in conference with the loss.
All three W&L doubles teams won, 8-0, and all six singles players won, 6-0, 6-0, to mark the second match this season that the Generals haven't lost a single game in a 9-0 win (Bridgewater, Feb. 15).
Senior
Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La. / Mount Carmel Academy) won at No. 1 singles, sophomore
Margaret Carlton (Matthews, N.C. / Charlotte Christian) defeated Nya Reed at No. 4, and the two paired at No. 1 doubles for the 8-0 win over Hannah Pardue and Jolie Nhouyvanisvong.
Becket Waters (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) downed Nhouyvanisvong at No. 2 singles and first-year
Meagan Donovan (Jacksonville, Fla. / The Bolles School) won at No. 5, while they combined for the 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles.
The final W&L wins came from juniors
Marta Mikos (Willowbrook, Ill. / Hinsdale South) and
Gracie Caplice (Richmond, Va. / St. Catherine's School), who claimed singles wins at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively, while pairing for the 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Generals will be back in action on Friday when they host Hollins at 4:00 pm.
