Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – The 18th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated Lynchburg by a 6-0 score at the Crosswhite Athletic Club on Tuesday.
The Generals improve to 10-6 overall and 7-0 in the ODAC with the win, while the Hornets fall to 16-2 overall and 8-2 in conference with the loss.
Sophomore
Izzy Koziol (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) and first-year
Meagan Donovan (Jacksonville, Fla. / The Bolles School) swept Alissa Anderson and Alexa Hardesty at No. 3 doubles, while sophomore
Gabi Moss (Paradise Valley, Ariz. / Chaparral) and junior
Becket Waters (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) skated to an 8-1 win at No. 2. Senior
Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La. / Mount Carmel Academy) and sophomore
Margaret Carlton (Matthews, N.C. / Charlotte Christian) battled at No. 1, but proved victorious, 8-5.
In singles, Garcia (1), Moss (2) and Waters (4) all earned straight-set wins to close out the match. Moss and Waters dropped just one game total between them, while Garcia defeated Christina Harris, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
The Generals will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Guilford for a 4:00 pm match to close out their regular season.
