Box Score MEDFORD, Mass. – The 18th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team fell by an 8-1 score against No. 10 Tufts on the road on Wednesday.
The Generals fall to 9-5 overall on the season with the loss, while the Jumbos improve to 11-2 overall.
Senior
Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La. / Mount Carmel Academy) picked up W&L's lone win of the day, as she defeated Tilly Rigby, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), at No. 1 singles. The Jumbos claimed four of the five other singles matches in straight sets, with W&L sophomore
Izzy Koziol (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) forcing a third set against Nicki Frankel before falling, 6-0, 3-6, 6-2.
Tufts won No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by an 8-2 score each, while Koziol and junior
Marta Mikos (Willowbrook, Ill. / Hinsdale South) battled Frankel and Rebecca Lim in an 8-6 Tufts win.
The Generals will continue their northeast road trip on Friday when they take on No. 6 MIT at 4:00 pm.
