LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team claimed its fourth straight victory, gliding past Hampden-Sydney by a score of 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Upper Courts.
The team of first-years
Eli Hirshberg (Alpharetta, Ga. / Johns Creek) and
Will Kistler (Hilton Head, S.C. / Laurel Springs School) registered an 8-6 win at No. 1 singles, while the teams of first-year
Evan Erb (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) and sophomore
Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Ala. / Briarwood Christian), and senior
Bobby Neuner (Darien, Conn. / Darien) and sophomore
Josh Rassin (Houston, Texas / Lamar) each followed suit with 8-4 victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively.
Erb needed a third set tiebreaker to defeat Barrett Foster at No. 1 singles, but the other five singles positions coasted to wins, dropping just seven total games between them. Kistler and Hirshberg both notched 6-0, 6-0 victories.
W&L improved to 6-8 overall and 5-0 in ODAC play, while the Tigers fell to 4-6 overall (1-1 ODAC).
Washington and Lee will be back in action on Sunday when it hosts Guilford for a 2:00 pm contest.
