LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team won its 50th consecutive regular-season ODAC match, defeating Roanoke College by a score of 9-0 on Monday afternoon at the Duchossois Tennis Center.
W&L carried a 3-0 lead into singles play after surrendering just one point throughout the three matches. The teams of senior
T.J. Rudden (Mountain Lakes, N.J. / Mountain Lakes) and first-year
James Kurani (Charlotte, N.C. / Providence Day), and junior
Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade) and sophomore
Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Ala. / Briarwood Christian) both won 8-0 at Nos. 2-3, respectively.
W&L cruised through singles play with very little resistance, dropping just two games across the six matches. First-year
Will Kistler (Hilton Head, S.C. / Laurel Springs School) notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, while first-year
Eli Hirshberg (Alpharetta, Ga. / Johns Creek) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Coleman and senior
Alex Fedor (Salem, Ore. / South Salem) also won 6-0, 6-0 at Nos. 5-6 for the Generals.
The Blue & White improved to 49-0 all-time against the Maroons, moving to 9-8 overall and finishing with a perfect 8-0 conference record. Roanoke fell to 7-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play with the loss.
Washington and Lee will be back in action on Thursday when it travels to Salisbury for a 3:00 pm match.
