LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's tennis team won its sixth consecutive match, taking a 9-0 victory over the University of Lynchburg at the Crosswhite Athletic Club on Saturday afternoon.
The win was W&L's third straight by a 9-0 score and pulled the Generals' overall record to even at 8-8 on the season. The Blue & White is also now 7-0 in conference play.
W&L easily carried a 3-0 lead into the singles action, with the No. 3 doubles team of senior
T.J. Rudden (Mountain Lakes, N.J. / Mountain Lakes) and first-year
James Kurani (Charlotte, N.C. / Providence Day) keeping the Hornets off the board in an 8-0 win.
The Generals won all six singles matches in straight sets, including a 6-0, 6-0 win by Kurani at No. 5 singles and a 6-0, 6-1 win by junior
Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade) at No. 3 singles. First-year
Eli Hirshberg (Alpharetta, Ga. / Johns Creek) added a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 position.
The win extended the Generals' current win streak over the Hornets to 28 straight matches and upped its current ODAC regular-season win streak to 49 in a row dating back to 2016.
Washington and Lee returns to play on Monday when it hosts Roanoke College for a 4:00 pm match.
