W&L Men's Tennis Defeats Shenandoah, 8-1

WINCHESTER, Va. -- The 29th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team defeated Shenandoah by a score of 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon at the Lowry Tennis Courts.

The Generals swept the doubles points, easily claiming wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, while the No. 1 doubles team of first-years Will Kistler (Hilton Head, S.C. / Laurel Springs School) and James Kurani (Charlotte, N.C. / Providence Day) received a spirited battle, before posting an 8-7 (7-4) victory.

In singles action, the Hornets seized their lone point in a three-set battle at the No. 1 position, but W&L dropped just four total games across positions 2-6.  Sophomore Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Ala. / Briarwood Christian) and Kurani both won 6-0, 6-0 in their matches at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.

The win upped W&L's ODAC regular-season unbeaten streak to 43 in a row and gives the Generals a 10-0 all-time mark against Shenandoah.

The Blue & White is now 1-7 overall and 1-0 in the ODAC, while the Hornets are 1-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday when it travels to Randolph-Macon for a 4:00 pm match.
