Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The ninth-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team earned its fourth straight 9-0 win this season on Saturday afternoon in a road match at Randolph-Macon.
The Generals improve to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the ODAC with the win, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
Junior
Becket Waters (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) and sophomore
Izzy Koziol (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) paired up at the top singles position and defeated Avery Smith and Grace Holderman by an 8-3 score. Waters and Koziol then went on to singles victories without dropping a game, with Koziol at the top position and Waters at No. 3.
Sophomores
Kaitlyn Chalker (Kennesaw, Ga. / Rivers Academy) and
Nell Covington (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) earned an 8-1 win at doubles and also each won their singles matches. Chalker was victorious, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4 and Covington won, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5.
The third doubles team was comprised of junior
Gracie Caplice (Richmond, Va. / St. Catherine's School) and first-year
Meagan Donovan (Jacksonville, Fla. / The Bolles School), who earned an 8-2 victory. Caplice matched Waters and Koziol with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles, while junior
Marta Mikos (Willowbrook, Ill. / Hinsdale South) rounded out the winners with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles.
The Generals will be back in action on March 15 when they travel to Sweet Briar in a road ODAC matchup.
