LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 29th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team was defeated by fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Upper Courts.
The Generals were extremely competitive with one of the top teams in Division III, taking one of the doubles points and playing close in the other two. The team of first-year
Evan Erb (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) and junior
Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade) produced an 8-2 victory over Andrew Tran and Rohan Reddy at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Brady took a 7-6 (3), 3-6, 10-4 win over Brian Wang at the No. 4 position, while first-year
Eli Hirshberg (Alpharetta, Ga. / Johns Creek) took James Yu to a third set in his match. At No. 1, Erb dropped a tight 7-5, 7-5 match with Joshi.
With the loss, W&L fell to 0-7 overall, while Johns Hopkins improved to 1-0.
Washington and Lee is back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Shenandoah University for a 4:00 pm match.
