LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team ran its conference record to 4-0 with an 8-1 victory over Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon at the Duchossois Tennis Center.
The Marlins took an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles, but the Generals easily claimed victories at the final two doubles positions to carry a 2-1 lead into singles action. The team of junior
Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade) and first-year
Evan Erb (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles, while sophomore
Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Ala. / Briarwood Christian) and first-year
James Kurani (Charlotte, N.C. / Providence Day) notched an 8-3 win at No. 3.
In singles, W&L swept all six matches in straight sets to cruise in the rematch of last year's ODAC title match. Erb posted the most convincing singles victory, a 6-3, 6-0 win over Felix Bevc at the No. 1 position.
The Blue & White has now won 46 straight regular-season ODAC matches. The Generals are 4-8 overall this season. Virginia Wesleyan slipped to 5-5 overall and 2-1 in league play.
Washington and Lee will be back in action on Wednesday, when it hosts Southern Virginia for a 4:00 pm match.
