Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The No. 13 Washington and Lee women's tennis team got back in the win column on Wednesday after a two-game skid with an 8-1 win over Centre.
The Generals improve to 8-3 overall with the win while the Colonels fall to 6-7 overall with the loss.
Senior
Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La. / Mount Carmel Academy), sophomore
Izzy Koziol (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) and junior
Becket Waters (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) each contributed to two wins on the day. Garcia and Koziol paired up at No. 1 doubles for an 8-6 win over Katharine Sherman and Hannah Doherty. Garcia went on to defeat Sherman, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1 singles and Koziol downed Ella Rueff by a 6-1, 6-4 score at No. 2.
Waters and sophomore
Nell Covington (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles over Rueff and Lainey Hill, before Waters went on to earn a 6-1, 6-1 win over Maddy Trinh at No. 5 singles.
Sophomore
Gabi Moss (Paradise Valley, Ariz. / Chaparral) (3), junior
Marta Mikos (Willowbrook, Ill. / Hinsdale South) (4) and sophomore
Kaitlyn Chalker (Kennesaw, Ga. / Rivers Academy) (6) rounded out the W&L wins, as each won their singles matches in straight sets.
The Generals will return to the courts on Friday, April 1, when they host Ferrum in a 4:30 pm ODAC match.
