Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The ninth-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team returned to ODAC play on Wednesday with a 9-0 sweep of Randolph.
The Generals improve to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the ODAC with the win, while the WildCats fall to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Sophomore
Gabi Moss (Paradise Valley, Ariz. / Chaparral) and first-year
Meagan Donovan (Jacksonville, Fla. / The Bolles School) highlighted the match for the Generals as they helped the team to two wins each. Moss partnered with junior
Becket Waters (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles before downing Valentina Santos, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles. Donovan won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles with junior
Gracie Caplice (Richmond, Va. / St. Catherine's School), followed by a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles over Bailey Livingston.
Sophomores
Izzy Koziol (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton),
Kaitlyn Chalker (Kennesaw, Ga. / Rivers Academy) and
Nell Covington (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) rounded out the singles winners for the Generals, as they combined to win 36-of-37 games. Randolph forfeited No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles for the remainder of the match points.
The Generals will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Randolph-Macon for a 1:00 pm match. W&L was also scheduled to host a home match against Hollins on Saturday at 10:00 am, but that has been postponed. The Hollins match will be made up, with the date yet to be determined.
