Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The No. 9 Washington and Lee women's tennis team opened its 2021-22 spring schedule with a 9-0 sweep of ODAC rival Bridgewater on Tuesday afternoon.
W&L improves to 2-0 overall on the season and picks up its first conference win of the season. The Eagles fall to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the ODAC with the loss.
The Generals won all nine matches on the day without losing a single game. Five players for W&L were part of two wins each. Sophomore
Gabi Moss (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral) won at the top singles position and paired with senior
Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La./Mount Carmel Academy) for the win at No. 1 doubles. Sophomores
Izzy Koziol (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) and
Kaitlyn Chalker (Kennesaw, Ga./Rivers Academy) won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, and teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles.
First-year
Meagan Donovan (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) and sophomore
Nell Covington (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) rounded out the winners, as Donovan picked up a win at No. 5, Covington won at No. 6 and the duo paired up for a win at No. 3 doubles.
The Generals will return to action on Friday when they host No. 24 Christopher Newport at 4:00 pm.
