ROME, Ga. – The Washington and Lee women's tennis duo of junior
Margaret Carlton (Matthews, N.C. / Charlotte Christian) and first-year
Lauren Long (Carmel, Ind. / Park Tudor) went 1-1 on the second day of the ITA Cup doubles draw on Friday.
Their win came in the second match of the day, a straight-set victory over Amelia Asfaw and Mariam Nechiporuk of Carleton College. Carlton and Long took the first set by a 6-2 score before closing out their run at the ITA Cup with a 6-3 win in the second.
Carlton and Long began their day in the consolation bracket, and faced off against Ida Krause and Dakota Fordham of New York University. Krause and Fordham moved on in the bracket, however, with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Carlton and Long will be back in action with the rest of the W&L women's tennis team when the Generals take on Case Western Reserve on February 18 at home at 2:00 pm.
