GREENSBORO, N.C. — Washington and Lee men's track and field junior
Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) finished in a tie for ninth at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Thursday at the Irwin Belk Track Complex.
Highlights From the Meet
- O'Connor registered a mark of 4.60m (15'01.00") to tie for ninth, missing All-America honors by one spot. He cleared 4.60m on his first attempt.
- Senior Noah Zastrow of Wisconsin-Stout took first in the event, recording a height of 5.10m (16'8.75"). Zastrow attempted his first height at 5.00m, clearing it on his third try to knock O'Connor from a tie for eighth into a tie for ninth.
- Ninth place is the best finish for a W&L athlete in an event at the outdoor championship since Zander Tallman '14 claimed the National Championship in the 400m in 2014. The finish is also the best placing for a W&L athlete in the outdoor pole vault.
