LYNCHBURG, Va. — Junior
Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) won the pole vault with a school record mark of 4.86m (15'11.25"), as the Washington and Lee men's track and field team sits in fourth out of nine teams after the day one of the Outdoor ODAC Championship hosted by Lynchburg on Friday.
Lynchburg leads the championship after day one with 79 points, Shenandoah is in second (48 points) and Bridgewater is third (28 points). The Generals have 21 points.
Highlights From the Meet
- O'Connor broke the previous mark of 4.77m (15'7.75") set by Shep Sims '20 on April 14, 2018. O'Connor also qualified for the finals in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.35.
- The Generals totaled 11 points in the 10,000m led by a third-place finish by senior Freddie Marx (Greensboro, N.C./Walter Hines Page). He crossed the finish line in 32:14.32.
- First-year Hayden Roberts (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) was fifth in the race in 32:44.41, and first-year Jackson Jacobs (Bridgeport, W.Va./Bridgeport) finished eighth in 33:38.26.
