Men’s Track & Field Improves Program Best Marks in Boston

BOSTON, Mass. - Members of the Washington and Lee University men's track and field team competed at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Friday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Macky Gartley and John Daniels opened competition in Boston on Friday morning in the 60m hurdles. Gartley placed fifth overall after posting the third-fastest time in the prelims at 8.21s and improving to 8.20s in the finals. Daniels recorded a time of 9.73s to finish 19th.
  • DJ McDonough clocked a 49.66 in the 400m to place 38th, while Connor LaCour posted a personal-best time of 50.42s—the fifth-fastest mark in program history. LaCour's time surpassed John Jones' previous mark of 50.47 set in 2016.
  • Gartley, Daniels, McDonough, and LaCour then teamed up in the 4x400m relay to conclude the morning session. The quartet lowered its program-record time by 0.60 seconds, finishing 14th with a time of 3:19.12.
  • Keaton Rush capped the evening by competing in the 5,000m. He improved his own program record in the event, crossing the finish line in a personal-best 14:24.56 to place 129th overall—the seventh-fastest time among Division III competitors.
