Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The No. 18 Washington and Lee women's tennis team earned its second win of the day with a 6-3 victory over Bridgewater on the road on Wednesday.
Adding a win earlier in the day at Virginia Wesleyan, the Generals improve to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the ODAC. The Eagles fall to 8-2 overall and 7-2 in conference with the loss.
The Generals traveled four players for the match, who all went 2-0 on the day. First-year
Gabi Moss (Paradise Valley, Ariz. / Chaparral) and sophomore
Becket Waters (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) teamed up for an 8-0 win over Whitney Kiser and Malena Hoover at No. 1 doubles. First-year
Izzy Koziol (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) and sophomore
Gracie Caplice (Richmond, Va. / St. Catherine's School) paired at No. 2 doubles for an 8-5 win over Rachel Crawford and Ali Keister.
In singles, the four Generals combined to drop just three games. Koziol (2) and Waters (3) posted 6-0, 6-0 wins over Emily Daigneault and Crawford, respectively. Moss topped Kiser, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 and Caplice defeated Hoover by a 6-0, 6-2 score at No. 4.
The three Bridgewater points on the day came via forfeit at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
The Generals will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to No. 15 Mary Washington for a 3:30 pm match.
