Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The No. 18 Washington and Lee women's tennis team eased its way to an 8-1 win over Sweet Briar on Saturday.
 
Sophomore Becket Waters (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton) and first-year Gabi Moss (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral) both contributed to two wins on the day for the Generals (3-1, 3-0 ODAC). Waters defeated Alexia Alfaro, 6-1, 6-1, in No. 5 singles and paired with first-year Kaitlyn Chalker (Kennesaw, Ga./Rivers Academy) in No. 2 doubles for an 8-2 win over Kate Kotany and Isabela Guilarte. 
 
Moss handled Allison Wandling, 6-3, 6-2, in No. 2 singles, while she and first-year Nell Covington (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) defeated Alfaro and Ruth Lechner, 8-3, in No. 3 doubles.
 
Junior Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La./Mount Carmel Academy) won at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 7-5, over Ruth de Souza, first-year Izzy Koziol (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) defeated Kotany, 6-0, 6-2, in No. 3 singles, first-year Margaret Carlton (Matthews, N.C./Charlotte Christian) bested Guilarte by a 6-2, 6-0 score in No. 4 singles and junior Claire Lacksen (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County) swept Lechner, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
 
The lone Sweet Briar (8-4, 4-1 ODAC) win on the day came at No. 1 doubles, as de Souza and Wandling defeated Garcia and Carlton, 8-5.
 
The Generals will be back in action on Wednesday. They will split between road matches at Bridgewater and Randolph, with both beginning at 4:00 pm.
