LEXINGTON, Va. – The 32nd-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team cruised to a 5-0 victory over Hampden-Sydney on Saturday afternoon.
The Generals swept through the doubles competition on the outdoor courts, before moving indoors and playing to the match to decision due to inclement weather.
W&L had little trouble with the Tigers in doubles play, as the teams of sophomore
Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade) and first-year
Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Ala. / Briarwood Christian), and senior
Noah Tapp (Lexington, Ky. / Henry Clay) and junior
Alex Fedor (Salem, Ore. / South Salem) won their matches at No. 2 and 3 doubles without dropping a game (8-0).
In singles, Brady claimed a 6-0, 6-1 over Tyler Brice at No. 1 and Fedor posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Andrew Donelson at No. 2 to end the match.
The victory was the 16th in a row for the Generals against the Tigers and boosted W&L's season record to 5-1 overall and 5-0 in ODAC play. Hampden-Sydney dropped to 1-6 overall and 0-5 in league play.
