NORFOLK, Va. – The 32nd-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season (3-0 ODAC) with a 9-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday evening in a match played at Old Dominion University.
W&L swept the doubles points led by the combination of senior
Noah Tapp (Lexington, Ky. / Henry Clay) and junior T.J Rudden (Mountain Lakes, N.J. / Mountain Lakes), who notched an 8-2 win over the team of Anthony Wilson and Henry West at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, the Generals won five of the six matches in straight sets, including a 6-1, 6-0 victory by first-year
Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Ala. / Briarwood Christian) over Wilson at the third singles position. Rudden added a 6-1, 6-1 win over Conner Cummings at No. 6 singles.
With the win, Washington and Lee improved to 25-1 all-time against the Marlins. Virginia Wesleyan slipped to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play with the loss.
Washington and Lee returns to the court on Sunday when it hosts Christopher Newport for a 2:00 pm match.
