SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Washington and Lee men's cross country team had four runners earn All-Region honors en route to a fifth-place finish out of 23 schools at the NCAA South Regional in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Saturday.
No. 20 Emory took first overall with 47 points, 23rd-ranked Lynchburg was second with 80 points. Christopher Newport was third with 110 points and the Generals recorded 141 points.
Senior
Drew Woodfolk (Kingwood, Texas/St. John's School) paced the Blue and White, taking 19th out of 154 runners with a time of 26:22.20 on the 8k course. Sophomore
Hayden Roberts (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) was three spots behind him in 22nd with a time of 26:24.30.

Josh Fingerhut (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township) claimed 29th, crossing the finish line in 26:43.40. Senior
Ethan Bernstein (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) placed 33rd in 26:49.50. Sophomore
Jackson Jacobs (Bridgeport, W.Va./Bridgeport) rounded out the scoring in 38th with a time of 26:56.00.
Woodfolk, Roberts, Fingerhut and Bernstein all secured all-region accolades with their Top 35 finishes. Bernstein and Woodfolk each earned their third all-region honors, while these were the first for Fingerhut and Roberts.
Senior Max Sparks of Lynchburg was the top individual runner with a time of 25:17.80.
This concludes the 2021 season for the Generals.
