Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The 23rd-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated Randolph, 7-2, at home on Wednesday afternoon.
The win improves the Generals to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in ODAC play, while the WildCats fall to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in league matches.
The Generals claimed wins in the first five singles positions and at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, while Randolph got forfeit wins at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
Sophomore
Claire Lacksen (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County) highlighted singles play for the Blue and White, with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 over Lauren Appel, the lone General to not drop a game. Senior
Madison Hutchins (Atlanta, Ga./The Westminster School) and first-year
Gracie Caplice (Richmond, Va./St. Catherine's School) also turned in strong singles wins at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, defeating their opponents, 6-1, 6-0, each.
The Generals will return to action on Sunday when they host Virginia Wesleyan for Senior Day. The match is set to begin at 10:00 am.
