Box Score SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The No. 23 Washington and Lee women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Sweet Briar on Wednesday.
The win propels the Generals to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in ODAC play, while the Vixens fall to 1-1 both overall and in conference play.
Senior
Anna Kreynin (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) did not drop a game in defeating Emily Wrenn in No. 6 singles, while junior
Ashton Jenne (Cleveland, Tenn./Baylor School) turned in a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Lacey Tuckey at the No. 5 position. Each W&L singles player won in straight sets, without dropping more than four games in a set.
The Generals cruised to three doubles wins, as first-year
Becket Waters (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton) and junior
Valerie Marshall (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) won, 8-6, at No. 1, Jenne and first-year
Marta Mikos (Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale South) won, 8-3, at No. 2 and Kreynin and senior
Gabby Moore (Davidson, N.C./William Amous Hough) locked up an 8-1 win at No. 3.
The Generals will return to action on Sunday when they host Virginia Wesleyan for Senior Day. The match is set to begin at 10:00 am.
