Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The Washington and Lee men's tennis team posted a 6-3 road win over Salisbury on Monday evening, giving Head Coach
David Detwiler his 300th career victory.
Now in his 20th season as the Generals' mentor, Detwiler's career record stands at 300-123 (.709).
With the win, W&L improved to 9-3 all-time against the Sea Gulls, who came into the match ranked eighth in the ITA Atlantic South Region. The Generals incurred an early 2-1 hole after the doubles competition. The No. 2 doubles team of sophomore
Alex Fedor (Salem, Ore. / South Salem) and junior
Noah Tapp (Lexington, Ky. / Henry Clay) posted an easy 8-2 victory for a 1-0 lead, but the No. 1 tandem then fell by a score of 8-4. Salisbury gained the advantage with an 8-7 win at No. 3 doubles, earning the point after claiming the tiebreaker (7-5).
The Generals, now 3-2 on the season, regrouped for singles, winning each of the top three singles matches for a 4-2 lead. Senior
Harry Shepherd (New York, N.Y. / St. George's School) handled Alec Angradi at No. 1 singles, defeating the 14th-ranked player in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.

Mitchell Thomas (Houma, La. / Vandebilt Catholic) and Fedor both needed a third set to dispatch their opponents at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Thomas won 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-3 and Fedor claimed his match 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Salisbury (3-1) took the No. 4 singles match, but the Generals closed out the match with straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 6 for a second straight victory. Tapp gave W&L the win with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Brad Pappalardo at No. 5 singles.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday when it travels cross-country to compete at No. 18 University of Redlands. Action begins at 11:00 am Pacific Time.
