Box Score NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The 23rd ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team eased past Centre with a 9-0 sweep on Sunday at the Top Seed Tennis Club.
W&L improves to 5-0 overall with the win, while the Colonels fall to 2-4 overall with the loss.
The Generals cruised through doubles play, dropping a total of just nine games in the three matches, before four of six singles matches were won in straight sets. First-year
Marta Mikos (Willowbrook, Ill. / Hinsdale South) and sophomore
Claire Lacksen (Watkinsville, Ga. / Oconee County) fell behind by a set at No. 1 and No. 6 singles, respectively, before both coming back to win. Mikos won the second and third sets, 6-2 and 10-1, while Lacksen claimed the second and third sets, 6-3 and 10-2.
The Generals will return to action on March 4 with a pair of ODAC matches. The team will split between hosting Randolph at 3:00 pm and traveling to Sweet Briar for a 4:00 pm start.
