Box Score NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The 23rd ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated No. 20 Washington (Mo.), 5-4, to remain unbeaten in the 2020 season.
The Generals gained an early 2-1 advantage after doubles with sophomore
Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La. / Mount Carmel Academy) and senior
Lily Horsley (Richmond, Va. / St. Catherine's School), along with first-year
Marta Mikos (Willowbrook, Ill. / Hinsdale South) and sophomore
Claire Lacksen (Watkinsville, Ga. / Oconee County), earning wins at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively.
Garcia then defeated Divya Sharma, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles, and junior
Valerie Marshall (Arlington, Va. / Yorktown) downed Leslie Ligier, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 as the Generals claimed two of the first three singles matches to take a 4-2 match lead. Washington's Ally Persky earned a win at No. 1, before Horsley clinched the match at No. 4 with a 7-5, 7-6 (1) win over Laurel Wanger.
The Generals will be back in action on Sunday when they take on Centre at 9:00 am at the Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Ky.
