Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The No. 23 and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated eighth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan, 5-0, on Wednesday in the ODAC Championship Tournament quarterfinals.
With the win, the Generals improve to 14-7 overall on the season, while the Marlins finish the season at 10-9 with the loss
W&L dropped just one game on the day, while first-year Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La./Mount Carmel Academy) and junior Anna Kreynin (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) combined for four of the team's five wins. Garcia teamed with first-year Claire Lacksen (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County) in No. 3 doubles to defeat Aubree Johnson and Taylor Witherspoon, 8-0, before Garcia went on to handle Audrey Bally, 6-0, 6-0.
Kreynin paired with senior Mary Hampton McNeal (Beaufort, S.C./South Carolina Connections Academy) in No. 2 doubles and the duo earned an 8-1 win over Christine Zalameda and Lyric Hinton, 8-1, before Kreynin matched Garcia's effort with a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 6 singles over Taitum O'Brien.
The Generals will compete against fourth-seeded Randolph in the ODAC semifinals on Saturday at 1:30 pm at Virginia Wesleyan.
