NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team concluded its regular-season with a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to Christopher Newport on Sunday in Newport News.
The Generals trailed 2-1 following doubles and simply couldn't get over the hump in singles. Three singles matches went to a third set, but CNU prevailed in two of the three to hold on for the 5-4 win.
W&L is now 12-4 overall, while the Captains are 12-8.
Washington and Lee will be the top seed for the ODAC Tournament, which begins on Tuesday with quarterfinal action. The Generals will host the eighth-seeded team at a time to be determined.
