Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The No. 22 Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated Bridgewater, 6-0, on Friday to remain unbeaten in ODAC play this season.
The win improves the Generals' overall record to 13-5, with a mark of 12-0 in conference, and it is also their sixth straight win and 10th win in their last 11 matches. The Eagles fall to 7-6 overall and 4-4 in the ODAC with the loss.
Senior Mary Hampton McNeal (Beaufort, S.C./South Carolina Connections Academy) and first-year Claire Lacksen (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County) defeated Alexa Will and Emily Daigneault, 8-0, in No. 3 singles, before McNeal went on to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Nicole Shifflett in No. 2 singles. Sophomore Valerie Marshall (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) and junior Lily Horsley (Richmond, Va./St. Catherine's School) also chipped in an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles.
Junior Gabby Moore (Davidson, N.C./William Amous Hough) matched McNeal with a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 3 singles, while first-year Georgia Wright (Austin, Texas/Regents School of Austin) defeated Whitney Kiser, 6-4, 6-3, in No. 1 singles.
The Generals will get back on the courts on Saturday when they travel to No. 10 Carnegie Mellon for a 12:00 pm start.
