Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. -- The No. 24 Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated Virginia Wesleyan, 5-0, to earn its third dual win of the season.
The Generals' overall record improved to 3-2 with the win, including a mark of 3-0 in conference. With the loss, Virginia Wesleyan falls to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the ODAC.
First-years Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La./Mount Carmel Academy) and Georgia Wright (Austin, Texas/Regents School of Austin) combined for three wins in the match, as Garcia defeated first-year Christine Zalameda, 6-0, 6-2, in No. 1 singles, while Wright handled sophomore Audrey Bally in No. 2 singles by the same score. The duo paired in No. 1 doubles and earned an 8-2 win over Bally and senior Katie Staman.
The Generals will return to action on Sunday when they host Division I Longwood at 1:00 pm.
