Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team notched a 9-0 victory over Sweet Briar on Saturday afternoon at the W&L Upper Courts.
The Generals celebrated senior day, honoring seniors Tessa Hill (Canton, Ohio / Jackson), Melinda Kauffman (Fuquay Varina, N.C. / North Raleigh Christian Academy) and Mary Hampton McNeal (Beaufort, S.C. / South Carolina Connections Academy).
Both Kauffman and McNeal went 2-0 on the day, winning both their singles and doubles matches.
Kauffman posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Emily Wrenn at No. 5 singles and teamed with first-year Claire Lacksen (Watkinsville, Ga. / Oconee County) to notch an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
McNeal registered a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lacey Tucker at No. 3 singles and linked with junior Anna Kreynin (Mequon, Wis. / Homestead) to win 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
All told, the Generals surrendered just three games across singles and doubles play to record their second team victory of the day. W&L downed Ferrum 9-0 in the morning.
The Blue & White is now 6-4 overall and 5-0 in ODAC play, while Sweet Briar slipped to 2-7 (0-2 ODAC).
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Guilford for a 4:00 pm contest.
