Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The No. 25 Washington and Lee women's tennis team upset 11th-ranked Skidmore, 5-4, on the second day of the Mary Washington Blue Gray Invite.
The win puts the Generals' overall record at 4-4 on the season, while the Thoroughbreds fall to 6-3 overall with the loss.
W&L got out in front, 2-1, to open the match after getting wins out of the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles slots. The two sides each won three singles matches, as W&L sophomore Valerie Marshall (Arlington, Va. / Yorktown) and juniors Lily Horsley (Richmond, Va. / St. Catherine's School) and Anna Kreynin (Mequon, Wis. / Homestead) each logged wins, with Kreynin's 6-2, 6-3 win over sophomore Jackie Ahn in No. 6 singles clinching the match for the Blue and White.
The Generals will return to action on Saturday when they host Ferrum at 11:00 am, before taking on Sweet Briar at 2:00 pm in a pair of ODAC matches.
