Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. – The 15th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to seventh-ranked Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday night at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Sophomore Anna Kreynin (Mequon, Wis. / Homestead) and senior Claudia Kesala (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) defeated Shivani Doraiswami and Jay Kim, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles. The Sagehens won the remaining doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles action.
In singles, senior Michelle Fleenor (Chattanooga, Tenn. / Girls Preparatory School) claimed a 6-3, 6-4 win over Caroline Casper at No. 1 singles and senior Emily Kochard (Charlottesville, Va. / Western Albemarle) defeated Emily Chen 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. However, Pomona-Pitzer claimed the remaining singles matches to reach the final margin.
The loss moved W&L to 11-5 on the season, while the Sagehens improved to 11-6 overall.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday when it travels to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for a 5:00 pm EST match.
