ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to top-ranked Emory University on Monday afternoon in Atlanta.
The Generals took No.1 doubles as the tandem of sophomores Harry Shepherd and Charlie Kittridge defeated the 21st-ranked duo of Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding by a score of 8-5.
Shepherd stretched his match at No. 1 singles to a third set, but eventually the Generals were defeated in all six singles matches.
With the loss, W&L slipped to 8-4 overall, while Emory improved to 13-2.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to 20th-ranked Sewanee for a 4:00 pm match.
