SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Swarthmore on Saturday morning.
The Garnet swept the doubles points to assume a 3-0 lead entering singles action. In singles, senior March Zheng (Leawood, Kan. / Pembroke Hill ) and sophomores Harry Shepherd (Ridgewood, N.J. / St. George's School) and Mitchell Thomas (Houma, La. / Vandebilt Catholic) all produced three-set wins, but it wasn't enough as the Generals dropped their first match of the season.
The loss moved W&L to 3-1 on the season. Swarthmore improved to 2-1 overall.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday when it takes on Johns Hopkins for another match at Swarthmore. Action begins at 11:00 am.
