ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 5-3 loss to Sewanee in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday at Emory University.
The Tigers grabbed a 2-1 advantage after doubles, claiming the No. 3 doubles match via a tiebreaker, 9-8 (8-6).
In singles action, senior Will Bannister (Bath, England / Beechen Cliff School) won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 and junior Mac Zheng (Leawood, Kan. / Pembroke Hill) won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4. However, W&L couldn't produce another singles win and Sewanee closed the match out with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
The Tigers improved to 22-3 overall, while the Generals' finished the 2016-17 campaign with a 16-7 mark.
