LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 38th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team dropped a tight 5-4 decision to 28th-ranked Sewanee on Sunday morning at the Duchossois Tennis Center.
Sewanee grabbed a 2-1 lead following the doubles competition and salvaged a split of the six singles matches to walk away with the narrow victory. Two of the matches, No. 3 singles and No. 6 singles, went to a third set. Each team took one of those matches.
With the win, the Tigers improved to 8-1 overall. W&L slipped to 5-2 on the season.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they host Shenandoah for a 4:00 pm match.
