LEXINGTON, Va. -- Seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon posted a 7-2 win over 33rd-ranked Washington and Lee in men's tennis on Saturday morning at the W&L Upper Courts.
The Tartans won at No. 1 and No. 3 singles and then claimed five of the six singles matches. The lone singles victor for W&L was senior Will Bannister (Bath, England / Beechen Cliff School), who produced a 2-6, 7-5, 10-5 win over Chaz Downing at No. 2 singles.
Washington and Lee slipped to 10-5 overall, while CMU improved to 11-7.
The Generals return to action on Sunday when they travel to Guilford for a 1:00 pm contest.
